FR. TOM UPDATE: From his brother Steve

Jesson Mata, Director of Liturgy and Music at Blessed Sacrament, just sent out this happy message about Fr. Tom. Please keep Fr. Tom and his brother, Steve, in your prayers as they continue their trip to Mexicali and then venture on the Arizona.

Greetings family and friends of Fr. Tom:

I was happy to receive this email from Steve (Fr. Tom's brother) that I decided to forward it to all of you. Steve is accompanying Fr. Tom for the majority of this trip. We are very grateful to him and his family for their love and care. Thanks Steve for the update!

Jesson,

The Spanish keyboard is a little different so i will dispense with proper capitalization.

the drive from la to mexicali was quite smooth until we got closer to the border and had to buy auto insurance, and then work through the massive traffic near the border. thanks to God we got there in time for Tom to be at the church (Compuertas) for the feast day of our lady of guadalupe. tom is visibly revived among the parishioners and the jump in motivation and well being was quite visible. he continues to eat more...a lot more..than he has. the taquitos are quite authentic here, gracias a Maria. he is drinking better as well and not feeling in pain as much. all very welcome blessings.

as tom's spanish message says, he received a standing ovation when he arrived and people patiently awaited their chance to greet him afterwards. it is a tremendous relief to see him here and being the recipient of so much loving attention, which is indicative of the loving pastoral care and attention and Christ-like love Tom gave during his years here. we followed up this with visits to incarnation, san juan macias, and then mater dolorosa.

now i am trying to find the gu arizona game on the internet.

later,
steve
