Memorial Mass for Father Tom

Friday, Jan 22nd is the Anniversary of Fr. Tom's death (and birth to eternal life). Please join the Blessed Sacrament Parish community for a rosary at 6:30pm and a candlelight Mass at 7pm at the Prince of Peace Newman Center. Reception to Follow.

In honor of Fr. Tom and his passion to help the poor, we are asking people to bring a can of food for Northwest Harvest.

Ash Wednesday

Happy Mardi Gras everyone! Hope everyone is celebrating well today!

Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday. It's not a Holy Day of Obligation, but it is a great way to prepare ourselves for Lent. As Fr. Michael Fones, OP reminds us on his blog:

The ashes traced on our forehead in the sign of the cross are a double reminder: first of all, of the cross traced on our forehead just before we were baptized. It is the sign that we have been claimed for Christ, the seal of the servants of God (Rev. 7:3). It reminds us that our life is not our own; that we have been purchased and at a price (1Cor 6:20). The ashes are also a jarring reminder of our mortality and the swift passing of our days: an annual "memento mori."

Funeral Services for Fr. Tom

Dearest family and friends of Fr. Tom:

It is with deep sadness and sorrow that I write this final installation of updates for Fr. Tom. I cannot even begin to express the grief that I feel, let alone the grief that his family is enduring. The tears that flow from my eyes are difficult to bear as is the burden of the pain that weighs down heavily upon me. I can sense yours as well. Know that Fr. Tom is with us to give solace and comfort. Also know that every ounce of strength left in me will be expended in prayer on your behalf.

Let us grieve and continue to celebrate the life of our dearly beloved friend and priest. Please join me and the Dominican community next week for the following services at Blessed Sacrament Church:

Blessed Sacrament Centennial Gala

Join the members of Blessed Sacrament Parish along with our Dominican Priests and Brothers in celebrating our 100th year! There will be awesome food (catered by Angela Kim... yum!), wine, and cake. Come for Noon Mass on Sunday, December 7th, and then walk across the street to the school for the Gala (1:30pm - 4:30pm).

All Saints & All Souls Celebrations

A week from today is Halloween (aka All Hallows Eve), followed by the much beloved holidays: All Saints Day (1 Nov) and All Souls Day (2 Nov). Blessed Sacrament has some pretty fabulous masses and prayer services lined up for us. The most notable of which is the Veneration of the Relics of Saints (including St. Peregrine, Bl. Teresa of Calcutta, and St. Dominic, among others) at 7:00pm on Friday, October 31st. In addition to Veneration of the Relics, there will also be readings on the lives of these Saints. It should be beautiful! Please join us for any (or all) of these beautiful liturgies. Here's the schedule:

**COMMEMORATING ALL SOULS
We commemorate all the men and women who have died through the celebration of All Souls. This feast falls on a Sunday this year.
As a Dominican Parish, we pray for the dead every day. The Friars include the prayers for the dead each day by reciting the “de profundis,” which is psalm 130. In addition, we also remember the dead by inscribing their names in the “Book of the Dead.” This book will be located in the north transept chapel, which used to be the adoration chapel. A votive tree with 42 branches for candles will adorn the chapel. There will also be a special book of remembrance with photos of the dead. If you would like your loved one included, please send a photo to the parish care of Jesson Mata
